Asian vine snake – Ahaetulla prasina (Boie, 1827) from Sarawak/Borneo – around 900m ASL

Ahaetulla prasina (Colubridae: Ahaetuliinae) is an arboreal, diurnal, opisthoglyphous vine snake that on Borneo is documented from Brunei, East Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak), and Indonesian Kalimantan; its wider range spans much of mainland and insular Southeast Asia. It occupies structurally complex vegetation in lowland rainforest and ecotonal settings—including forest edge, secondary growth, and garden/plantation mosaics—where it forages in shrub and canopy strata. The species is mildly venomous to humans and is viviparous/ovoviviparous. Diet is dominated by small arboreal vertebrates, especially lizards and tree frogs, with occasional avian prey reported.
