This species could be Pelophryne murudensis Das, 2008 from a new location. Due to a lack of DNA evidence, I am provisionally listing this animal as Pelophryne cf. murudensis. I found the individual at approximately 1800 metres above sea level.
Murud dwarf toad, Pelophryne murudensis Das, 2008 of Sarawak / Borneo, 2105m ASL
Pelophryne murudensis is an endemic toad species of Gunung Murud (Sarawak, north-western Borneo) and has so far only been found there, so my discovery contributes to a very welcome expansion of its range. The altitude range documented so far is approximately 1,900–2,200 metres above sea level; the type locality is at 2,120 metres. The animals are found in montane forests; calling males sat on leaves at night about 5 cm to 2 m above the ground. The altitude distribution documented so far is approximately 1,900–2,200 m above sea level; the type locality is at 2,120 m. The etymology is given in the first description as “Latin for inhabitants of Gunung Murud”.
