This is most likely Pinanga aristata (Burret) J.Dransf. – central Sarawak / Borneo

Pinanga aristata (Burret) J. Dransf. is a species of palm in the family Arecaceae (order Arecales). The currently accepted name was published by John Dransfield in Kew Bulletin 34(4): 775 on 22 February 1980; the homotypic synonym is Pseudopinanga aristata Burret, published in Notizblatt des Botanischen Gartens und Museums zu Berlin-Dahlem 13: 191 (1936). Borneo is given as its natural range; in the Plants of the World Online database (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew), the species is listed as a ‘shrub’ and assigned to the humid tropical biome. An isotype of the first description of Pseudopinanga aristata (collectors J. & M.S. Clemens 27259) is documented from the Mount Kinabalu area (location ‘Dallas’, 3000 ft/approx. 900 m). The mottled juvenile leaves are striking.

Etymology: The genus name Pinanga is explained as a Latinisation of the Malay common name ‘pinang’, which is used in Malay for the betel nut palm (Areca catechu), among others. The species epithet aristata (feminine to aristatus) means ‘awned’ or ‘bristle-pointed’ in botanical Latin terminology.
