Balu flying frog – Rhacophorus baluensis Inger, 1954 of Gunung Murud (Sarawak, Borneo) around 2200m ASL

Rhacophorus baluensis inhabits mainly montane rainforest in northern Borneo. The males are often found calling at water-filled, wild boar wallows. This species is a typical species for the highlands in Borneo and can be found up to 2300m ASL. Its species name, composed of balu and the Latin suffix -ensis, “that lives in, that inhabits”, was given in reference to the place of its discovery, Mount Kinabalu, sometimes spelled Kina Balu.
