A special plant that is threatened by habitat loss but the main reason is because people collecting them, just to have them at home. Nepenthes northiana Hook.f. lives as a lithophyte and the peristome is quite striking and remarkable, like Miss Marianne North (24 October 1830 – 30 August 1890) – she is one of the most famous Botanists back in that time. Her paintings of flowers in their natural habitats gave a glimpse of plants inaccessible to most people. Nepenthes northiana is named after this remarkable person of science-history here in Borneo.
