Pinanga ridleyana Becc. ex Furtado – central Sarawak / Borneo – around 550m ASL
Pinanga ridleyana is a species of palm tree (Arecaceae) in the genus Pinanga. The name was validly published in 1934 in Repertorium specierum novarum regni vegetabilis (Volume 35: p. 282). POWO lists Pinanga ridleyana var. platyphylla Becc. (Atti Soc. Tosc. Sci. Nat. Pisa, Mem. 44: 127; 1934) and P. ridleyana subvar. angustata Becc. (ibid. 44: 128; 1934) as heterotypic synonyms. According to Dransfield (1980), the name is based on type material from Borneo (Jambusan, Sarawak), collected by H. N. Ridley (Ridley 12472); the holotype is held in the herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (K). The species epithet ridleyana is an eponym in honour of the British botanist Henry Nicholas Ridley (1855–1956).
