Probably an unidentified species of katydid, Mioacris sp. of central Sarawak / Borneo – around 800m ASL.

The genus Mioacris was established in 1892 by Pictet & de Saussure and is currently treated as a genus of katydids (family Tettigoniidae), placed in the subfamily Pseudophyllinae and tribe Phyllomimini; the type species is Mioacris javana (Pictet & de Saussure 1892; Orthoptera Species File). In the original publication the generic names Mioacris and Chlorotribonia were introduced side by side; de Jong justified the use of Mioacris on the basis that it was cited before Chlorotribonia in that work (de Jong 1939). For Borneo, the presence of Mioacris is documented by museum material: de Jong (1939) described Mioacris nieuwenhuisi from specimens collected on Borneo (including localities such as Long Bloe-oe and the Mahakam region), and de Jong (1960) reported Mioacris longicauda from Banjermassin (Borneo) (February 1935) and referred to a previously reported record from Borneo (Kina Balu) (de Jong 1939, 1960). In the revisionary literature, M. longicauda is characterized morphologically, among other features, by a long ovipositor in females and oblique brown bands on the forewings (tegmina), and diagnostic characters are also discussed to separate Mioacris from closely related genera such as Promeca (de Jong 1939).
