Bornean dark-necked slug snake, Asthenodipsas borneensis Quah, Grismer, Lim, Anuar, & Chan, 2020 – of Sarawak/Borneo – around 1020m ASL.
Asthenodipsas borneensis is a snail eating snake (Pareidae) described in 2020 following a revision that separated Bornean populations from the formerly broad A. malaccana complex. It is documented from Borneo, including Sabah and Sarawak, and occupies rainforest from lowland to montane elevations up to about 1000 m. It is nocturnal and primarily malacophagous, and is diagnosable by the absence of preocular and subocular scales and by a conspicuous dark nuchal blotch on a beige to orange brown dorsum.
