Areas galactina trigonalis Moore, 1882 – Sarawak / Borneo – around 1000m ASL
Areas galactina (Erebidae: Arctiinae) is represented in Borneo by the subspecies A. g. trigonalis. Records come from montane habitats at about 1200–2000m on Mount Kinabalu and around 1500m on Gunung Api in Sarawak; the species is considered uncommon there, with further occurrences in Kalimantan likely. It is characterized by milky-white forewings marked with a distinct black reticulate pattern and black spots on the patagia and tegulae. In A. g. hollowayi, the red coloration of the hindwings is more extensive, the black spots are larger, and the head is red rather than yellow. Forewing length ranges from 32–35mm in males to 40–42mm in females.
