Dragon Head Katydid Lesina blanchardi (Brongniart, 1890) the former Ellatodon blanchardi from Sarawak / Borneo

Lesina blanchardi (Brongniart, 1890) is an exceptionally large-looking leafhopper from the Tettigoniidae family (long-horned grasshoppers), which is often referred to as the ‘dragon-headed katydid’ in English due to its heavily sculpted head.

In the current taxonomy, it is listed within the genus Lesina (sometimes treated as a subgenus Ellatodon); the type material originates from Borneo. A characteristic feature of females is the long ovipositor, which is described in the literature as measuring approximately 40–48 mm and thus protruding significantly beyond the hind leg.
