Ansonia latidisca Inger, 1966 (Sambas Stream Toad)

IUCN

Ansonia latidisca is a small toad of the genus Ansonia Stoliczka, 1870, it took me several visits to find these jewel of the Sarawak/Kalimantan border-region. The size is ranging from 30 to 50 mm and the coloration is “mosslike”, thats the reason why it is so hard to find these species. The common name is Sambas Stream Toad, named after the Sultanate of Sambas (1609–1956). The Sultanate of Sambas (Indonesian: Kesultanan Sambas) was a traditional Malay state on the Western coast of the island of Borneo, in modern-day Indonesia.
